Styrenic Block Copolymers
Styrenic block copolymers (SBCs) are made by styrene and butadiene linked homopolymer blocks. They belong to the class of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) where elastic and thermoplastic behaviour are joined together in the same material.
Versatile tuning of final product properties can be easily obtained by mixing with other polymers, oil and fillers allowing wide product applications in bitumen for road paving and roofing, adhesives, sealants, coatings, footwear, toys, automotive, personal hygiene, packaging goods market.
BUSS ChemTech developed the continuous hydrogenation of the styrene block copolymer solution, where the double bonds on the macromolecular backbone are hydrogenated, improving the modified polymer properties.
Polyalphaolefins
Polyalphaolefins (PAOs) comprise a wide range of synthetic base oils which can be used in industrial gear oils, hydraulic oils, aviation lubricants, engine oils, compressor lubes, drilling fluids, heat transfer fluids, dielectric fluids, greases, and natural gas engine oils.
PAO products are produced through the hydrogenation of oligomers (such as dimers, trimers, tetramers). Synthetic base stocks are oligomers of small molecules, synthesized to a defined molecular weight and distribution.
The BUSS-Loop® Reactor has been used for decades to carry out PAO hydrogenation.
